My works could be described as landscape paintings because much of my preliminary work is akin to cartography, identifying the underlying structures of a place. With painting, I seek to evoke rather than to represent;I have moved away from a figurative/descriptive approach towards an abstraction that emphasizes a malleable sense of space. I am presently interested in the way this process leads to images that suggest space in it’s infinite and particular possibilities. The paintings often suggest multiple and contradictory spaces within the same illusory pictorial space.I play with scale within my abstract surfaces as I endeavor to create spaces that oscillate between the cosmic and the microscopic
